Living Water Project

Wetlands
Whites Creek Wetlands in
Lilyfield provides habitat
and reduces pollution.
Soils & Plants
Soils absorb rain, reducing
floods and plants pump
water into the atmosphere.

Water is essential for all life on earth. Rainfall is often erratic with floods one year followed by droughts. Polluted water is a health hazard to many living creatures, including humans.

Water is purified by wetlands and natural ecosystems. Soils absorb rainwater, reducing floods and storing water needed by plants in dry times.

Sydney's water supply is now suffering from a permanent drought. Urban water needs now exceed the rainfall supply to catchments. Up to 90% of the rain falling in the suburbs is wasted as flash floods.

LIVING WATER PROJECT aims to enhance the urban water cycle by mimicking nature and establishing natural ecosystems to replace concrete pipes and drains.
